Is it Depression?
We all experience feelings of sadness or the “blues” from time to time, and this is normal and healthy. The problem arises when the sadness is not just temporary. If it persists and begins to impact every area of your life from eating and sleeping to your work, relationships, and sense of self, you may be suffering from a depressive disorder.
If you believe that you are struggling with symptoms of depression, our team can help. Here at Serenity Zone, we take a comprehensive clinical approach to detecting the root cause of your health challenge. Together we will help you break free and reclaim your life.
What Causes Depression?
Depression is not one dimensional- there is no singular cause and effect. It develops as a result of a complex combination of factors. These include genetics, brain chemistry, lifestyle, environment, personality, and the role that stress plays in exacerbating these elements, impacting key areas of the brain.
Your mood can change when the left prefrontal cortex is impacted, which operates to get us engaging in positive moods and effective social interactions.
When brain wave activity on the left side of the brain slows down, we naturally pull away from others and lose interest in things. We want to withdraw to our bed and just lay there. Our moods become very negative. Energy is low. We either can’t sleep at all or we sleep too much. It is the way our biology protects itself when the stress and strain of life becomes overwhelming.
The brain can get “stuck” in this pattern of brain wave activity slowing down, leaving you feeling hopeless.
The good news is there is hope and there is help.
Here at Serenity Zone
We use the most evidence based, clinical assessment and neuroimaging technology (QEEG) to map the brain. This allows us to discover how each individual’s brain is functioning to determine if it is dysregulated and contributing to their symptoms.
In the case of depression, Neurofeedback is clinically shown to improve brain wave function. This allows the low level brainwaves to increase and improve which allows the depressed feelings to reduce significantly in a short period of time.
Once we determine where the affected areas are, we create a corrective plan of care using the most cutting-edge neurotherapies and brain training tools to optimize the exact networks and pathways of the brain. This allows function to improve so the person can enjoy greater clarity, connection, mood, memory, and engagement in their life.
Care plans will typically include a combination of one or more of the following corrective and natural brain health modalities:
Psychotherapy, Braincore Neurofeedback, Biofeedback, Stress Management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Light Therapy, Relaxation Therapy, Autogenic Training, and Individual or Group Counseling
This comprehensive approach to your health delivers the correction, skills, and habits needed to continue improvement so you can optimize your health and life.
